I had accumulated a fair amount of budget DAC’s and amps so I decided to put the stuff I don’t use up on eBay. All told, I raised about $1200 dollars so I took that and bought a 109 Pro as well as a Matrix Audio Mini-i Pro 3 and considered the difference as an Xmas gift to myself. The Matrix adds a lot of versatility, connection wise, while being a very clean looking all in one unit. In terms of the 109 Pro’s, I love the sound! It provides a great contrast to my darker LCD-2’s. My only gripes against the 109 Pro is I hate the rubbery cable, so I’m gonna get an aftermarket one, and the black finish inside the wooden cups seems to be made of plastic. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention how much I love the headband. It applies enough tension to keep the headphones secure on my head while not giving me a migraine. It’s very well done.

Just another chapter in my audio journey.

Does anyone else have the Matrix DAC/Amp or the 109 Pro? If so, what are your thoughts on them?

I have one (the pro model) which I'm using with a pair of 99 Classics through 4,4 mm balanced, actually listening to this set up as I'm writing this comment. :)

I like it a lot. Use it mostly as a Roon endpoint through WiFi. Very convenient. No need for a lot of cables and separates devices.

I have the 109’s. Love them. Very pleasant tuning out of the box, I like the little bump in the mid-bass, the bass extension and that extra “air” in the upper treble. Mids are great and not drowned out. Imaging and soundstage are also good. Comfort and looks are top notch.

I use the 109 pro with the fiio k7. I purchased them from apos and they included a free cable upgrade to their flow cable. It’s a fantastic setup.

I'm so tempted by them. Unfortunately I have to sell my Elites to get a new PC so I'm trying to decide between some used Arya V2s (had V3s before the Elites) or some 109 Pros. Both basically the same price. Tempted to go Arya and pick up some 109s anyway after my PC is sorted out.

Im surprised noone mention the annoying harsh treble. It’s making my ear ring

I’ve seen people say the treble has been bothersome for them and then others say the treble hasn’t been a problem. Luckily for me the treble hasn’t been an issue which is odd because I consider myself to have sensitive ears.

Really a loaded question. I have both and I have to say I am not giving up either.

The HD600 is such a good headphone either on tubes or one of the many DACs/AMPs out there.

The 109 is easier to drive and has a fantastic soundstage. I find myself just listening to them like I'm not wearing headphones at all.

If I had to choose, I would take the 109 ONLY because it's easier to drive and I can use it across more devices.

One last thing, remember you are talking about a headphone that is two to about three times the price (depending on the deals). It's a great headphone but the 600s on a good tube amp is magic in my humble opinion.
