very cool thanks for the information

no deatachable cable = never buying it

If $10 IEMs can have removable cables then I don't know why Moondrop can't add them to their low end IEMs. I think most people wouldn't mind paying the extra few dollars.
NahbImGood t1_iy9ei5h wrote
When DSP is part of the product, Moondrop thinks this IEM will sound worse listening to these with a regular cable, and any other IEMs with this cable will probably also sound worse. This is like asking for a bluetooth speaker to have binding posts on the back to use your own speaker wire and amplifier because even $20 logitech speakers can be used with an external amplifier. The DSP in the usb-c connector is fundamentally a part of the product and the way it’s intended to be used. It’s not hard or expensive to add a detachable cable to an IEM, the cable is literally just attached to make the IEM idiot proof, but they’ll still complain.

Agree especially here with a dsp detachable cable. You could customize anything that this will drive. It’s also probably why it’s not removable.

Erm no. The DSP is surely 'tuned' to the frequency response of the IEMs to EQ it. This will sound bad on any other set than this
perryman50 t1_iycob9a wrote
Probably. It may be close to neutral in tuning if this anywhere close to the tuning on the Chu. It would still be nice to have a DSP like this to use with other suitable IEMs. There are other ways to EQ.

Anyone know the FR curve on these bad boys?
cmickledev t1_iy8zmww wrote
Probably won't know / be out for a while yet, still isn't on the official Moondrop site. https://moondroplab.com/en/products
They usually include a graph with their own measurement.

This is the Quarks DSP, I suspect it will be close. Close to Harman but a little bit more bass and a little bit less upper mids (both of which are probably pluses).

If that cable actually works with the switch I'd buy one if they make a standalone version.
-Anti_X t1_iybyk7w wrote
The DSP is factory tuned, you probably need some engineering skills to be able to make it sound good with any other set, because it will sound bad.
-Anti_X t1_iyby2vn wrote
If they haven't fixed:
- Channel imbalance
- Filters falling out
- The sticky cable (non detachable is fine if the cable is good, but it's not)
- The shitty ergonomics that undo the sealing ( the ear hooks are horrible) ... Then I'm not buying it. The Chus are sitting on my desk while I'm going out with the CCA CRA outside just fine ( it has shitty ergonomics too but eh), just because the Chus become unusable after 30minutes outside.
