At 10:30 timestamp on Crinacle's video about the 8xx titled "goodn't," he expressely stated that the build, resolution, and imaging were essentially the same but were hindered by the tuning changes. He later stated that eqing the headphone gains his approval for a minimum recommendation. Since he didn't perform all these different tests or mods, he was not sure how it would affect the headphone. He only compared stock performance. And also, he stated that 8xx had A+ technicalities in his written review, but because of D- tuning it gained a C average ranking score. So I don't think I was misleading anyone with my statements.

now regarding the sound, I never tested the 800 so I won't say it's better, but my research showed that the general consensus was that 800s officially improved upon the 800 sound signature, and since I was able to compare my 8xx to an 800s, I felt comfortable stating that if the 8xx sounds as good or better than 800s with eq and mods, that it would in fact also sound better than an 800. But I disclosed that I never tested that theory.
