I know these aren't anything crazy, but they're my first pair of "real" headphones. I love them to death, the sound is very neutral and lends itself well to any genre. I also swapped the old deteriorated earcups for velour ones and they're now the most comfortable headphones I've tried.
I've never owned a headphone amp so if anyone has a recommendation for a good entry level amp, let me know!

Schiit make great amps for affordable prices.

Fiio K5? Topping Dx3 Pro?
Do these count as entry level? At any rate they should serve you well for a long time.

I’m envious of your $2 score! While the MDR V6 isn’t my main headphone, it’s a great chillin’ anywhere can. An Apple dongle and my iPhone drives this ultra-efficient gem beautifully. I’ve had it for umpteen years, numerous earpad changes and it’s still sounding wonderful. Get an amp for the V6 if you want, but it’s unnecessary.

And best of all, it's FOR DIGITAL!
I owned a V6 for many years. i still have a 7506 I'd like to press back into service after I replace the pads.

I'm currently rocking these headphones with an xDuoo XD05 Plus dac/amp. It's my first foray into "hi-fi" too. Just listened to "The Wall" and... couldn't be happier. These are 63 ohms, so pretty easy to drive. I've had them for years, but the dac/amp just gives them life.

I'm not going to say you are wrong, I have also been known to enjoy these cans with Apple dongle and iPhone, but running them through a dac/amp has really given them some oomph!

Well, that’s just, like, your opinion man.

Because Schiit doesn't have headphone protection in their amps and it has resulted in Redditors getting their headphones destroyed.
