Was at the office when i saw a colleague editing videos on these Boat headphones. These are pretty popular in India because they are bassy and cheap. Those looked like open back so i tried em on.

No soundstage at all compared to my Sennheiser HD599 in the background. Wayy too much bass. The boats just sound terrible imo.

Don't worry, even amazing headphones like the DCA Expanse can be like this. Looks open but behaves like closed.

Lo and behold, the fake openbacks. (These look open but are actually closer backs).
