The Aeon X closed back by Drop and Dan Clark Audio. Seriously I wasn't expecting them to be as good as they are when I first put them on. I personally find that they have very detailed sound, and I like that they handle sub bass with the same oomph that they handle highs with. Coming from experience with HD650s, I knew they'd have a different sound but I'm still blown away, I know they aren't considered endgame to most but after I get my Stax I think I'll actually be satisfied. I'm sure my headphone collection will continue to grow but I don't feel the need to go more "endgame" then these, truly the best audio experience I've personally had. (Besides Stax lambdas, I'll be having those thanks)

I got those and an E-MU Teak coming soon as well. We'll see how much I like them. Got a D7200 which is good, but maybe not as special as I'd like.

Let us know how it goes and compare all of them
I was dead set on the Aeon 2 Noire until I heard about the sound of the LCD-XC, now I need to hear them

I'd take the tuning filters out. Stuff in front of the drivers is rarely a good idea. EQ is a much better solution if you want to knock down the treble.

Yeah but if OP prefers the sound it's cool. Also EQ isn't a good option for everyone.

Man, beautiful cans! How is the comfort? Those pads are super "tall". No problem fitting the ears for sure. 👍

Awesome! How's the sound stage?

I did get them slightly used (literally almost half off and perfect condition) and they came with those in them, I'm currently trying them without the filters

Super comfy, the ear fitting thing is actually a big deal to me, I have moderately sized gauge earrings so it's awesome to find some headphones that easily fit them

Way better than I expected out of a closed back, I think the tall pads help a lot in that regard

I got them used and honestly didn't realize those came out, I'm testing them now cycling between all the filters they came with. Some people may think that's not the way to do it but I figure it's worth it to try all the accessories it came with

The filters have a reputation for making things sound a bit blunted. That bothers some people more then others. It's fine to leave them in but it's good to try without too. :)

I actually do like them more without the filters, as I said I got them used and the filters were already installed. Added bonus, without the filters you can see the drivers which with planars is pretty cool. Thanks for the tip!

Cool! And if you hear any scratching noises in the future then you know that you have a loose hair touching the driver.

Nice. I have big ears and can't fit in most.

I wonder how they compare to the emu-teaks

Yeah, LCD-2 Closed is the best closed back I've heard so far. XC was pretty bad without EQ imo, but with EQ might be fantastic. I'll make reviews on all of them when I get to it ;)

Great cans :-) Try them without the inserts. I found it very quick to adjust to the extremely small difference in treble, and detail was greater.
