grado rs2's that i bought from a garage sale. old dude was pretty nice about it too. best C$70 i ever spent. i still use it... went and sold my hd600+darkvoice tube amp and just kept a dongle and the grados.. they still work real fine despite the thick cables.

Not at all. I have the 560s as well and it's thin sounding, lacking the meat that the 660s has and the treble on the 560s is a little to harsh for my tastes, although you can get used to it after a while.

The 560s aren't bad whatsoever, but I just adore my 660s so much more.

I don’t mess with EQ because I like having the ability to plug them into any source and they’re gonna sound the same. Some sources don’t have good EQ like my iPhone for example.

I did a very slight boost in mids (150-1000hz) on my spotify EQ and I feel they can’t sound better than this haha

Good to know. I don’t use Spotify but next time I’m using the 560s I’ll try a mid boost. Did you also make sure you lowered your preamp gain by the same amount so you don’t get distortion?

I mean in the software. You need to lower the overall gain by the same amount that you raised in the mids or else you’ll get clipping/distortion

ZMF Atrium Closed is coming soon and sounds like it would be right up your alley. Looks like it'll have elevated sub bass compared to Atrium Open and Verité Closed from the few impressions out there. I haven't heard any of the ZMF yet but got Atrium incoming. My favorite (so far) is LCD-X 2021 with EQ, a nice bass shelf and they sound amazing to my ears. TH900 got the most bass stock out of any headphone I've heard but they're way too bright on a lot of songs.

Unfortunately I haven't had the pleasure of listening to abyss, audeze or high end hifiman etc. But my favourite headphones are my new focal clear OG. Vocals are insane and it's the first headphone where I think the singer is there with me. Everything is so crisp and clear. They beat HD800 for me personally.

oBravo ERIB 2C. I expected a complete disaster after reading reviews about their other models and how much oBravo were made fun of in crinacle's discord (or any other audio discord for that matter). I was completely blown away by their speaker like presentation. They weren't the most detailed or refined sound I have heard in that price, but it was a completely new experience to find speaker-like sound on an IEM.

Have you considered the Diana TC as it's a mini 1266 and more confortable ? I haven't have the chance to test expensive headphones like you, but my Diana V2 is my best cans for details and resolution, it makes EDM very fun. (Most other expensive headphones I tried is ZMF VO, Hifiman Arya, Audeze LCDXC)

Etymotic ER2SE. It can even challenge some kilobuck iems in the market. Intimate soundstage tho and super deep fit which is uncomfortable sometimes.

Moondrop Venus. It's like an Edition XS hit the gym, showered, saw a therapist and took a spa day.

Similar characteristics but Venus are just cleaner. Better with vocals too, much more 'honest' sounding. Every track seems to bring out slightly different aspects of them, whereas I feel like the XS apply their sound to everything.

I was knocked out by the Audeze. Also, the bottom of the line, sub $100 Joe Grado headphones are absurdly great for that price.

In terms of sound, my Tin T3+ may not be as detailed as my Hifiman HE400se, but it is tuned way better. For all day use, the Philips SHP9600 with Misodiko cooling gel pads is my favorite.

You might need to plan to go to a headphone convention and try out a variety. Head-fi is a challenge. I've stuck to IEMs for 20 years and haven't been compelled into full size headphones, so unfortunately I don't have recommendations. This hobby just requires you to listen to a LOT of products just to find the few options that really fit what you seek. There's no magic to this. You just have to listen to a lot of stuff. Something like a CanJam event could be your ticket to experiencing a lot of stuff and really narrow down the field.

Campfire comet.

I own/owned better headphones, including Moondrop, Sennheiser, other Campfires, and Audeze. The comet is worse than them in a lot of ways, but I like the sound signature.
The first time I listen to an album is with the Blessing 2 to get a baseline of “normal,” then I go to IEMs with interesting sound signatures to hear how it changes.

Yes, it is cheaper to buy a $20 IEM tuned to the Harman curve and just EQ it. Do that if that makes you happy.

HE6se V2. Absurd fidelity, great tuning so easy to EQ to perfection and dynamic beyond anything I've heard. The only headphone I would take over them so far is the LCD-5.

My favorite headphones for pure music enjoyment are the Denon AH-D7200, Grado SR60i, AKG K240DF and the AKG K712 Pro.

I have the Sennheiser HD 800, Meze Empyrean, Dan Clark Audio Expanse, HiFiMan Ananda and Grado GS3000e. While they are all good at something and do provide a good listening experience, they are either solely focused on analytical listening or are good at a very specific thing.

If you don't like the treble on the Fostex, then try the Denon headphones. They are made using the same Foster Denki base which is used by Fostex but they are not as treble intensive. Go with the Denon AH-D5200 as it's the closest to the TH900mk2 (slightly less V-shaped but still bassy). The AH-D7200 is more relaxed in the treble and has a slightly recessed ear-gain region making it very non-fatiguing. The AH-D9200 is like the TH900mk2 but without the bass-boost, so you will probably not like it.
