He jumped at the top of the downhill part leading to the actual jump and landed on the uphill part of the ramp. He should have bent his knees and absorbed the little kicker zipped down the steep part and then off the ramp at the bottom.

There is, it's just hard to see with the way the lighting is in the gif. This is at Sunshine Village resort in AB. Most folks hitting this little feature ski through where he took off (doing their best ti keep skis on the snow) and take off from where he landed.

These "jumps" are really scary on skis. Once you've committed you just hope you have enough speed. Knowing how to bail really helps. You would think slower is better generally, but faster means you have more horizontal velocity so even if you overshoot your landing you will generally bail and slide/roll. Nothing scared me more skiing than falling straight down like a rock.
