This is like a 70s prog rock album cover - but animated. There is a feature on Spotify allowing artists short animations as album covers, so modern prog bands should throw money at you

Oh my gosh. That 3D stop motion of yours is insane. Which program did you use?
stvulture OP t1_j1m2xbl wrote
Blender and Adobe Medium for sculpting!

Wow I can't wait to see what else you come up with.
Is it a similar composition to live stop motion? Like, do you take shots in those programs? I've never seen this before - I'm fascinated!
stvulture OP t1_j1m3rs0 wrote
The process is almost identical. I move the sculpture or deform it and then keyframe it!

Great stuff! I've never made any digital animations so this was such a cool thing to come across.

Hmm. So I'm guessing it's denser keyframes and no splining compared with a traditional 3d animation style? At first I was like.... Isn't that just traditional 3d animation? Then I remembered that splines existed and how useful they were in regards to making animation smooth when I learned the basics of 3d animation in college.
This is a lot of work man, props to you. Probably comparable in time spent to traditional claymation. Is this animated on twos?

Oh wow, this is some really great work. Damn. Can I ask what is meant by "3D stop motion"? Is that just stopmotion, or something different?
Also, this reminds me somewhat of the work of Eric Oh, which you should check out if you haven't seen.
Edit: ah, you answered my question further down. That is really cool, and inspiring.
Edit 2: but my next question is, do you use medium in VR? And do you create "frames" with separate models of the same thing? Or just tweak them slightly to give that appearance? I'm actually really curious about your process here, cuz the look is just awesome.
