Praise Indie. They must live and die by the content and innovation of their titles. A much better player-centric metric than what large studios must play to.

Been here since pong.

We probably define legendary differently.

I don't think it's true. I agree that will never be the same but probably will be better in the next years.

Nothing is ever the same as it was. That's how time works.

5-10 years ago is full of poorly executed followup games and clones of games from before then.

I'm obviously biased, but I think the time when online gaming was getting rolling but people were still doing LANs all the time was the best. Halo/Halo 2 are good examples. Halo 2 people were finally grinding it out online, but still dragging PCs, TVs, xbox's, piles of cables, etc. around with them for a fun weekend.

Yeah we know, turning 23 sucks. Games aren't any better or worse, you're just old now.

It's just a matter of watching the giants of the industry fail. If people stop buying from the AAA studios it will allow for new companies to rise. Ones that will not want to repeat the mistakes that lead to the failures of their predecessors.

... You know things are exactly the same as they've been, right? Like, for 40 plus years. Nothing's really changed...

2001-2009 was the golden age to me. Everything gaming related since feels like it's lost its soul.

This year has been dropping absolutely top tier games. So I disagree with the notion that “legendary” gaming era is over. Maybe games hit different because you were younger but i think the age of gaming is absolutely on the rise and is going to keep getting better

As soon as incredible amounts of effort in exchange for amazing stats, items, etc.. was made possible with pay to play or even upgrades locked behind pay to play - that’s when golden age of gaming died.

Let me pay my $60+ for the full game. :(

Eh, I'm pretty that just creates a cyclical thing

->Company rises through good games

->Gets Greedy, starts rushing, abusing MT's, relying too much on loyalty

-> People get tired, company falls

-> New Company rises through good games

-> New Company starts to get greedy

-> Rinse and repeat

Human nature doesn't change much and we're not great at learning from history.

A valid point. In the current situation I won't jump to that conclusion though. Mainly because the current state and size of this gaming industry is unprecedented. At least when referring to the releasing of unfinished broken products.

I mean it's not fifa but cod has barely changed its core... Hell they remade old CODs, BF is the same, God of war is just a movie with prompts and boss battles now. No franchise holds it's value for more than a game or two and then it's just same old shit that people eat up. the last 5-10 years was certainly nothing outstanding aside from VR and maybe gyro controls. After that it's just copy pasta with new graphics or one new mechanic stolen from another "top title".

Shit they remade demon souls 6 times (don't get me wrong, I love the games but they're all the same)

Thats what im trying to say, its lost the original feel because its not rlly original at all yk? We need some new ideas some new concepts some new things to explore not just the same storyline except they change some factions here and there

There were also a billion fps games trying to become the next Halo Killer and a vast majority were pretty middling at best.

I guess sorta like with BR and now Extraction shooters.
