Right up there with games in Beta going up for Game of the Year awards. What even is that logic? Your game is either finished or not, screw the devs/publishers trying to straddle both sides of the line.

I'm pretty sure PUBG released on Xbox specifically so that they would be considered a released game for awards. The Xbox version was considered a full release while all the others were still beta releases.

I was thinking Halo Infinite but yup, it's certainly not the only one.

I mean, come on, most games release in beta just without saying that. They are buggy messes on launch these days; save for a few notable exceptions.

No arguments here.
Just saying you either say "it's a Beta" and forfeit any right to claim awards that should be reserved for "finished" products. Or you admit it's fully released but you've done a shit job and thus, don't deserve any awards. Right now the Beta excuse is used to simply shirk any responsibility for the crap state of releases, while simultaneously trying to claim the benefits associated with full releases, like charging full price....

i'm convinced "beta" is just used when a game that should've been ready to launch ages ago needs to be released but it's still too broken to play thoroughly.... so they just call it a beta.
some games even remain in beta status for years
