I've been playing games for as long as I can remember, and I still enjoy playing them. I can put in an 8+ hour gaming session easily, but whenever my friends get off, I find myself staring at my steam library not knowing what to play.
It's not like I play games that require friends, I'm grinding camos on MW2, but I can't keep playing when my friend gets off - I feel unmotivated.
I have bought so many single-player games that I have - or had genuine interest in and if I'm not in a call with a friend, I really struggle to play any single-player game as well.

Maybe you're not setting aside enough time for yourself. You can only experience a story for the 1st time once, but multiplayer with friends can be done without limit, making it a guilt free activity. Perhaps leaning on multiplayer so much indicates you're having trouble committing to playing a single-player story for fear that it's not the right time, or there won't be enough time to finish.
At least, that's a problem I have. Something that I do with anime is I set aside a specific time every week to watch it, which is always Sat night/Sun morning. I look forward to it every week.
