Odyssey is the same way.

Areas, whereas yes you can go to them, have level recommendations.

You can be level 1 and go to a level 20 place, but you're going to have a bad time.

It's still a great game, though.

Unity was the first game I finished. I Loved That Game!!!!!

The setting is amazing. The story is great, the mechanic were fun!

I'm currently playing through Origins and am loving it, but I have not run into leveling issues. We must have different play styles when it come to that game lol

Odyssey is similar to the system you mentioned in Origins. But both of them are beautiful games.

If you want a similar system as in Black Flag. You can try AC 3 and AC rogue.

Or you can try other AC titles like starting from AC 1.

AC 2 to AC Revelations follows the story of Ezio. Who is the favourite for the whole AC Community.

Since your first AC game is Black Flag. I'm not sure that you would be interested in other titles. Because AC:BF is one hell of a fun game to play.

Unity is great IMO, interesting story and location and fun gameplay. If you don't mind trying older titles you could go with the Ezio trilogy. The first two definitely have more dated-feeling graphics but they're superb for gameplay and story.

The Dishonored games are all fantastic and while not quite the same as the AC games they do share a lot of similarities. Highly recommend.

All the new ACs are like that unfortunately, it’s why I’ve stopped playing after playing/owning almost every game before.

Any game before Origins will be more like Black Flag, personally I didn’t love AC Syndicate because of some other game mechanics but otherwise pick a game that’s in a time period you think is cool and dive in!
