I borrowed my buddy’s PS4 to play god of war (2018) and spider-man. God of war was the best game I’ve played this year.

I recently played the return to Arkham asylum and Arkham city last week on my XSX, but switching to Spider-Man from them, idk it seems very repetitive? I’m about 1/4 through the game and it seems much more focused on Peter Park’s life than on Spider-Man.

I guess I was expecting it to be more focused on villains and action than peters personal life.

Has anyone else had the same experience? I hate to say bc the swing aspect and the action is very fun when it does happen, but the game almost is boring most the time.

Swing here across the city, then load screen, two cut scenes of peters personal life, load screen, then swing back across the city for action. Repeat ad nauseam.

It’s just… idk, feels like a lot of filler.

Nope, I loved it.

You don’t have to do all the side quests.

It kinda is just make sure to have a lot of balance, I’m replaying and if you do side missions frequently it evens out

I think it’s also weird >!that they killed Miles Morales father. In the comics, his parents are both alive and it’s refreshing having a hero who isn’t an orphan, which is what Michael Bendis created Miles to be. Not an orphan.!<

It worked out well for me. I work a lot so I could sit down and play for an hour or so doing side missions like beat up this room full of bad guys or construction site full of bad guys or disarm the bombs in so many seconds and then call it. Then on the weekends when I can play for many hours I did mostly story line stuff. I can definitely see what you are saying and if I was 10 years old again and could play as many hours as I wanted I could see agreeing with you. Even playing it for an hour or two I got tired of looking for backpacks.

As far as it being more about his personal life, I like that. You really got to see how he has to juggle a lot of stuff. Lets be honest, most people would have an emotional breakdown if they had to juggle all the stuff Peter does. Then despite all the stuff he does he is broke and at one point homeless for a night. That really hits hard especially when you are putting your life on the line everyday to save New York. I could easily see Peter or at least Peter on another world go crazy and become a bad ass super villian.

They really show you what Peter goes through and we don't get any of that with most heroes. It also makes you appreciate more what he does as Spiderman since he has a real life to balance as Peter Parker.

lol I feel this. I’m currently on PTO and the PS4 im using is borrowed, so I figured I’d knock it out During my stay cation. Normally I’m a 30-45 min a day kind of guy.

Thanks for your perspective.

For me, I don’t care about peters interpersonal relationships, tbh. It’s what I loved about Arkham city and Arkham asylum, it’s just a focus on Batman and not Bruce Wayne, or “the Batman” movie had almost no focus on Bruce Wayne. Idk, I’m just not super into the interpersonal relationships of these over the top characters. I’m not trying to play a soap opera, I’m trying to beat up super villains and save the day.

You didn’t like the world-building in a brand new IP that’s setting itself away from the traditional Spider-Man multiverse? I’m not going to tell you how to like your games, but your criticism is odd to say the least.

The game was a phenomenal masterpiece, man. The Peter Parker story is often overlooked in favour of Spider-Man’s adventures so it was an awesome change of pace to see him balancing the work life and home life and relationship problems all while having to fight off various crime syndicates and supervillains. I’ve also never totally loved the “and now this one shows up just after you beat this guy!” storytelling. It feels rushed.

1/4 into the game isn’t very far either. There’s a huge ramp up and then you’re fuckin’ IN so I encourage you to continue playing but that’s obviously your call.

Thanks! I’ll keep an eye out for a thicker plot. This is what I’m looking for. I’ve just gotten to the part where >!the private security company temporarily arrests Peter and let’s him go once his police buddy shows up!<
