I wouldn’t say it looks stale or dated…

But it’s not My LoZ so I’m more than likely taking a break from “mainline” LoZ for now.

Definitely love the series overall, and am all for if they remake/remaster any of the classics again.

100% agree. nothing against botw but I don't want it to define all Zelda games rom now on. Zelda games have almost always been unique to each other and each one add their own thing, I hope that keeps happening instead of just making them all like botw.

Hopefully after TotK, they can return to form.

Glad for those who enjoy the current LoZverse but there’s a reason many people don’t enjoy it in comparison to past greats.

For those that are old enough, they remember that this already happened with Ocarina and Majora's.
So, no need to be afraid of "will this be what LoZ will ever be from now on?"

I am not old enough, but looking at the pattern I can tell that is what happened. I just don't want Zelda to be defined by one game only and that goes for oot and alttp as well

Same this is actually the first ever Zelda (not including remakes/remasters) that I'm not buying/playing

This. Glad for people that love the vibe, but I’d rather a return to OoT-through-SS glory & feel.

I’m just done with current mainline trajectory, unless there’s something drastic we don’t know about Tears.

Gimme WW&TP remasters on Switch! Give me a brand new Top-Down entry, or Minish Cap & Oracle remakes!

As someone who was of age to play LoZ from the original release to now, this is DEFINITELY my LoZ and I'm thrilled with the direction. BotW reminded me so much of the original and what it felt like to play it back then, before the series got bogged down by formula.

I just love the core formula.

Change some things yeah, like new forms as Wolf Link, mechanics & traversal Sailing, or Minish sizing up/down, Merging into walls etc as much as you like but whatever LoZ you played - they had the same core formula and charm.

BotW, fun in its own right, didn’t have what makes LoZ a LoZ - to Me.

I totally get that, and that's valid. I think maybe a better way to say what I feel is that after OOT, the 3D Zeldas slowly started to lose me because I could never shake the feeling that I was playing "OOT But X" (sailing, wolf, etc). BotW was the first 3D Zelda to make me feel like I felt playing the 2D Zeldas again.

That's not to say I thought the 3D Zeldas were bad games. Not at all. But after a certain point, I didn't feel the connection to the franchise I once had, until BotW pulled me back in.

There it is. You’ve actually summed it up well - “OoT but X” is, in essence, what I want.
