So I don't see where the performance issue is, FromSoftware only implemented RT Shadows which is quite light on performance in comparison to RT Reflections.

If the shadows are RT, why do characters and small objects still cast the blocky smudge of a 2011 Skyrim shadow? Why didn't they bother enabling RT shadow cast on more light sources like graces?

Cause it uses hybrid RT Shadows as it should, the game does not use RT Reflections whasoever.

And yet it still drops framerates by about 25% for almost no visual difference.
Like you can see *a* difference but it's mostly "colours and shadows a bit softer now" not a meaningful change to illumination and shadows.
