Your eyes might be able to appreciate the difference for about a couple years before they can't even keep up from degradation due to gaming. 2k resolution (1440p) is perfectly fine up to a 27" monitor, which IMO is pretty ideal, unless you just really want to go for that 34"+ wrap around immersion, then 4k becomes viable.

As far as I know, there is little to no evidence to suggest gaming causes long term eye “degradation”. Common symptoms are eye strain and Computer Vision Syndrome.

You're right. This guy is treating his personal anecdote like medical fact, which is BS.

I just assume based on my own experience gaming 2ft away from a screen for over a decade that the eye strain without an opportunity to correct itself eventually leads to a permanent change, aka damage. *shrug*

An assumption which is baseless. Again, many studies have been done and little evidence has been found to support this. Don’t use anecdotal evidence to spread misinformation.

If you’re approaching your 30’s, that sounds more like ordinary degradation that comes with age. Maybe try finding some prescription computer glasses if you haven’t already? If I remember correctly, they’re different from reading glasses in that they have a focal distance of around 18”, which is good for a computer screen. They made a world of difference for my partner.

With that logic, every human would progressively become blind from daily sight.
Epic facepalm.

Not blind, just nearsighted.
It's common sense, facepalm.
The American Optometric Association cites excessive computer use with an 80% increased risk of myopia (nearsightedness). I'm sorry if that likelihood upsets you, no reason to get sour and downvote me because I'm pointing out how things often work. Sheeesh.

Eye degradation and over use of optic muscles are not the same thing. It's cute, you think you're smarter than you are.
