What would you suggest for someone who only knows Super Nintendo? I appreciate any help!

Well, consider the fact that I was born after end of support of super Nintendo...

If you want ability to modificate your games, or some niche products, or more freedom I guess, then use PC. I also like mouse+keyboard controls more than controller, but I think it is mostly just my taste. Downsides of that platform is that there many PS AAA-exclusives that unavailable on PC or have really bad ports. Also hardware is quite expensive and it is much more hard to choose it. But it also means that you can build whatever PC that covers your needs. It also might be that you already have desktop or laptop. But second isn't good idea for long term gaming due to cooling problems, and you probably won't be able to run modern AAA games. However, many indie games are still available. The way to buy games on pc is steam. There are other different game stores like epic game store, but steam is the mostly used one. Just google it and I think it will be first results.

Nintendo switch is portable console. It not so powerful as other ones, but you can easily take it anywhere (but there is also steam deck that relatively recently came out with full support of steam shop, so if you want mobile console for games from PC, then steam deck is also good choice). But it has a lot of exclusive for Nintendo games, which can be played only with it. Not really into Nintendo stuff, but you can also check their store and site or I guess any YouTube video which more properly describe all pros and cons of that console.

PS and Xbox are I guess the most famous consoles. Modern generation have similar hardware properties (PS5 and Xbox series X/S), but ps has its VR set (which of course bought separately) if you want to play VR games (there is not a lot of them though). The main difference between them that PS have a lot of good exclusives, but Xbox has its famous game pass, which you can subscribe on and it will give you access to giant library of games that also regularly updates with new ones.

I cannot suggest you a lot of games, because my taste in them probably really differ from yours and I really not into modern AAA games, neither any Nintendo. There is a lot of games that you can suggest any game store, just use right filter (or don't use one all). Again, there is a lot differences between the last of us, horizon, assassin's creed, resident evil and factorio, rimworld, hearts of iron 4, minecraft, terraria or any games I usually play. I can recommend though outer wilds - great chill exploration game and may be hollow knight, which is a metroidvania set in dead kingdom of bugs with incredible atmosphere and bosses, however starting with hk isn't the best decision that you can made. It is good game, but quite challenging and don't have usual quests that will guide you to whatever you need to do (the game literally starts with you landing into some kind of cavern with no knowledge of what's going on and you won't have any relatively complete ideas on it untill midgame, but as one of characters you meet at the beginning says, "Getting lost and finding your way again is a pleasure like no other. " )
