It was okay, but I didn't like the touchscreen controls. They were uncooperative at times.

That’s the same for me, I never beat the game because I lost it.

I like how there's a skeleton in the Ocean Kings temple that complains about not being able to use buttons.

Yeah I tried replaying it a few months back and the controls just didn't do it for me any more. Same with the other DS Zelda game, Spirit Tracks, though the whole train thing was kind of weird too.

It was my favorite Handheld Zelda. At first I thought some of the choices were bizarre, but I found that while the fighting and feel were less smooth than Wind Waker, I really liked the more condense ocean feel. The world was big enough to sail around in Linebeck's boat while still providing enough main story islands and fun extra islands that you were never stuck on the open sea waiting for long. Also the simplicity of just drawing the course for the ship to sail and then dealing with treasure and enemy ships was a lot less tedious than changing the wind every 30 seconds. It's a shame the sequel went with trains, because I liked the plot your own course style of Phantom Hourglass. I may complain about the empty vastness of Wind Waker, but at least it let you explore to your hearts content instead of putting you on literal rails.

Copy the map! Wtf does that mean game? Like, wtf does that mean? Spends an hour trying to copy map, gets frustrated and closes ds, I’ll try again tomorrow. Opens game next morning, oh, oooohhh, okay game that was really clever.

I'm currently playing a modded version that adds button controls for movement and sword. I don't care for the boat parts.

Liked the vibe of the game, hated the temple of the ocean king so so much, hated the touchscreen controls. Nothing is less satisfying than tapping the screen to attack. I never played through the whole thing for these reasons.

Still better than Spirit Tracks.

And once again I almost forgot it exists. I loved it, I remember playing it on my first chunky DS and it was one of the few games I felt went really into using all the assets (touchscreen and mic).

It came out when I was an adult. The controls were seriously flawed, my hand covered up too much of the screen when controlling Link. I stopped playing in disappointment around 1/4th of the way through.
