Oh my heck it's just the most gosh darned handy dandy smart home hub around. Really takes the wollup out of home security and convenience.

It is a tablet that integrates everything into the Google home hub. Cameras, lights, chrome cast, speakers, music, video etc.

I love the idea behind it all, but not with Google at the helm driving it.

Pixel Tablet, recently revealed. It also functions as a Nest Hub replacement with a charging dock that will serve as a secondary speaker

Of course, because I finally just bought an iPad Pro a few weeks ago

It’s ok. Shareholders thank you for your sacrifice. Without your our purchase, the quarterly earning would have been short at 4,999,999,750 but you got them to the 5 billion mark. Now every corporate overlord can afford to put golden stake on the table for dinner tonight.

surely you knew another was around the corner this time of year? In any case, the update looks to be minimal so you should be good.

I bought the 2020 Pro at the end of 2020. I knew the M1 wasn’t far behind, but I needed it then and I don’t regret it. I’m waiting for a few “M” generations before I upgrade again.

I think they are trying to make an Amazon show competitor. I can see why, the show is great. To bad Siri sucks because I would probably switch.

How do you define “sucks”? What functions are you missing?

Peteostro t1_isq01f7 wrote

The fact that it works only 70-80% time, yes Siri sucks

Yeah between all the robo voices out there. They most annoying but most accurate is Alexa and then Google.

Alexa is really annoying but also pretty good. I haven't tried google the last three years

Do you have some real life examples? Im using siri quite often but mostly just for simple things, im just curious.

BTW its not a „fact“ a fact ist something provable and not your personal experience.

I really don’t want a “google tablet-like device”….I’m bout to swap to Microsoft surface pro because i want a touch screen tablet like laptop that can run proper programs…not iOS programs.

Good luck. MS tablet is a joke. Bought every single one and taken everyone of them back within 5 days. Skipping on the 9. Problem is the garbage interface and apps not well supporting it.

docere85 t1_ispqqkh wrote

Ohh shoot, I’ve yet to hear this lol. I haven’t done much research on it I just hear how awesome it is. What’s crappy bout them?

  1. Keyboard - you have to spend more on this. You’ll notice if in your lap, it’s sucks to type on and wobbles. Then you goto a desk and have to kick out the kickstand and your like wait, a laptop is better.

  2. MS gambled on Win8 and goal was to make everything metro. That failed, as a result the App Store failed. Nothing really takes advantage of the touch well.

  3. It’s overpriced. You can get better specs and like a 3050ti graphics card and find ones super light.

  4. Hardware issues - MS is NOT good if you have problems. Just read horror stories about getting fixed.

It’s weird, I much preferred them back in windows 8/8.1 days where window’s actually was designed for touch, sucks quite a bit now.

Windows 11 is trying but still gets beaten out by the ChromeOS touch mode

Simply_Epic t1_ispi0f5 wrote

Ah yes, because touchscreen laptops have been sooooo useful.

Guess I’ll relay that to the Microsoft surface team that sells a shit ton of these

I feel like if anything… it’s too optimized and apple is afraid to take.. software risks with it. But carry on

At first I thought there's no way they'd expect people to use a £1000 tablet as a home hub but that sounds like the most Apple thing ever.

sgrams04 t1_iso4xod wrote

The hub would be a separate model, not the m2 pro
