They are in performance. Intel is faster on single core tasks and AMD fares better on multi-core tasks. So it depends on what you’re doing. AMD chips generally use less power which makes it easier to keep cool. AMD is often cheaper to get the same level of performance.

Either platform is fine for most people. The greatest thing AMD has accomplished is forcing Intel to be competitive. That means we get faster and more efficient systems for less money. I’ve used AMD products for years because they used to be a bit slower across the board and way cheaper than Intel. Overall, they’re both great and it’s just us nerds that have a preference.
