It's not dirty, it just has a patina.

Actually it was pretty disgusting when I first got it. It's been a shop beer fridge for the last 60+ years.

You could probably replace that fridge with anything made in the last 10 years and the savings on your power bill would cover the cost in a year.

True. But it would be guaranteed to fail 2 weeks out of warranty, so you would need to replace it every 3 years, completely offsetting the savings. White goods these days are absolute trash. Are most are designed to break even further if you attempt to repair them.
