I'm 53. I can't remember what I did last Tuesday, but in 7th grade Vallerie Villar at Wheeler Elementary School on Oahu and I shared a math class. I was head over heels for her. I was brimming with 10 year old's hormones, and Romeo and Juliet had nothing on the love I had for this girl - forget the fact we'd never spoken. One day the HomeEc teacher had us make lumpia. I'd found my second love and ate 2 of the 3 pieces we'd each made.
I saved the 3rd for the next class, and Vallerie sat to my right. I worked up the courage to say hi to her after months and made my offering a dead pinky-finger looking lumpia and she accepted the gift, ate it and gave me a 'thanks'. And that's it. Never spoke to me again.
I still love lumpia though.

Hahaha kids can be awkward, great story, at least you had the courage to say hi.

If you had offered her either jufran (banana ketchup), sweet chili sauce, or datu puti spiced vinegar then she would probably had been your to this day.

2018 Oahu. Our guide takes us to some insanely priced fruit stands, and they had lumpias stuffed with bananas. First time tasting this tasty treat.
