Homosexuals are what they both are which is why you might think it’s the same thing. It’s liking someone that’s the same sex as you, for men it’s call gay for women it’s called lesbian

they’re not combined because each of them go through their own struggles

Lots of groups that have issues with gay people have fewer issues with lesbians. Even if they're basically the same thing, they haven't been treated at the same thing, historically. They were added to the acronym to reflect that both groups needed recognition and support.

Lesbians refers to homosexual women. Gay (usually) refers to homosexual men, though it is occasionally also used to just mean homosexual in general

But isn’t a lesbian technically gay?

Which is why it's separated to show representation for those genders

Technically Lesbian and Gay still mean their more traditional definitions… men attracted to men are gay.. same for women attracted to women

For those who still desire to be called as such. Because… labels or something

Doesn't bi sexual pre-suppose two, or "bi", genders? I'm moreso wondering how it can co-exist in a worldview that says there are an inumeral amount of genders...

Someone who is bi-sexual might be attracted to male presenting men and female presenting women. There are other more specific labels for someone who has an attraction to a wider range of gender (or even sex) presentations
