buildyourown t1_ja8k412 wrote on February 27, 2023 at 5:19 PM The limiting factor is tire traction. If the brakes have enough force to match the tire traction, then nothing can be gained with engine braking. On a heavily loaded truck with hot brakes? That's when a jake brake is used. Permalink 2
