Right. A fair comparison would be Pfizer vs Janssen (their pharma company), Not JnJ.

It's interesting how despite the US having about half the population of Europe, these companies make twice the revenue in the US.
As an outsider, it seems like the US healthcare industry is straight up scamming people.
Also, I'm willing to bet that due to universal healthcare in EU, people are more prone to go to the doctor and consume more medication.

I think when the budget for marketing is almost twice the budget for R&D, something is kinda wrong...

Actually getting reasonably taxed? I think this is the first breakdown I've seen where a 'normal' tax rate has been applied - or at least is expected.

“provision” for tax. Gotta keep it to the side for a couple of years in case they come knockin

Yeah that is why I specified 'or at least expected.'

Provision for tax is the same thing as income tax expense

Looks like it was mainly from a lawsuit settlement and selling part of a business. Their actual tax rate was probably much lower

Am I wrong or does the net profit and tax not add up to the EBIT?

The fact that there is two "Revenue" columns, one being slightly higher than the other, is making me really unconfortable

You should show how much they make from the Covid vaccine.

Johnson & Johnson, another pharmaceutical giant, pulled in $1bn more revenue in Q3 than Pfizer, yet they 'only' had a 19% net profit margin compared to Pfizer's 38%

How much of the difference was only due to Pfizer's covid vaccine though? 2023 will be a totally different story

Vaccine was so good they had to force people to take it

This isn’t surprising since Pfizer is a narrowly focused value added chemical manufacturer (pharma), and J&J is a consolidated heath qnd pharma supplier. Basically J&J has a conglomerate business and Pfizer doesnt.
