I have a few questions - I'm interested in this stuff!
What's the source for these numbers?
How are you defining the "continents"? Can you add a lookup or table? Fyi Australia is its own continent.
If A is 2012 electricity produced and B is 2022 electricity produced, what's your calculation to determine % change?

What does increase (pp) mean? Per person? That doesn't make much sense

Percentage points

Of course!
The source is Our World in Data, but you can see the underlying spreadsheet and dataset here (and copy it if you want). The definition of the continent also comes from Our World in Data.

I am going to be a bit nitpicky here because of the subreddit we are on. The data is interesting, but this visualization is just bad. There is a lot that could have been done. For example, putting "Increase" on a second axis as a line, or better yet, remove it altogether and instead do a stacked bar with "2010" and "Increase". Would have made the graph much simpler and more visually appealing. With this being r/dataisbeautiful the context is about how nice a graph looks not necessarily the data itself.

Someone should really make a symbol just for this.

Percent ist not the same as Percentage Points.
For example, if Europe has 21% renewables in 2010 and 48% renewables in 2020, that's a difference of 27 percentage points and an increase of 229 129 percent.

2020 is 229% of 2010, which is an increase of 129%.
