How many of these stupid posts are we going to have to see? Your sankey is no more interesting or “beautiful” than the last 1000.

Your next job will be about 5% no answer due to the existing experience, keep at it.

If you submitted 437 applications and heard nothing on 313 and rejected on 87, you’re resume likely needs some work. Might I suggest seeking a resume writing service or reconsidering your resume?

What sites are you using to apply?

I was under the impression that for tech jobs, the rank of your school usually didn't matter that much? Also, a bunch of ivy leagues aren't even top ranked schools in CS, engineering, etc. I would think your GPA, internships, and what specific area you're trying to go into would matter much more. I got a job in a tech adjacent field after 2 applications.

Seriously 400+ applications.

Did you adapt your CV and motivational letter for each of them? Otherwise, I am not surprised by your success.

Look at the job description and try to match the requirements with your CV and motivational letter.

Good luck!

Curiosity has been piqued, what type of "tech" positions? Remote only? For the last data analyst I hired we only had 3 applicants. Though, the company wouldn't let me make it a remote position and it wasn't a huge city.

Half of my german computer science fellow students didn't even apply for their Job. Nearly everyone had a Job offer even before graduating. And we went to basic public university...

As a teacher these graphs are wild to me. I looked at the job openings available, mailed my resume to the least disagreeable one, got called back an hour later, scheduled an interview two days later and was hired two hours after that.

For once someone should post a graph like these for applying for restaurant jobs.

It would go something like this. Went on Indeed, put in 50 applications, got 50 phone calls. Ignored 40 of them, answered 10, got 10 interviews. Blew off 8 of them, went to the other 2, got 2 job offers, accepted them both. Only showed up the first day for one of them.

400+ applications is ridiculous. I don't think you are taking the application process serious. Did you even end up in job you wanted!

You got two offers, congrats! You are lucky you graduated in 2022 and not 2008. Took me about 1.5 years and thousands of applications to get my first job offer after graduation.

For the more prestigious and high paying tech jobs (FAANG+, etc) it's going to be significantly easier to break into with a prestigious CS degree compared to a no name one.

This person's results say to me though they were either applying to roles/companies way out of their league, or they have limited experience for even a new grad, or they have a bad resume. I would assume they would've had to apply to 10-20% of the amount of jobs to get similar results.

i applied to entry level SWE jobs at quant finance and med-big tech companies. some of my friends have applied to 500+ positions with no luck. economy is rough and most companies dont want to hire new grads

What are your demographics? Given what I’ve seen as a math/CS major I would guess that might be important here.

Congrats on the job offers!

Hey don't get down with what other people are saying. I graduated in 2020 and this was my experience as well in aerospace engineering. Tech seems to have fallen off a cliff just as much as aerospace did during the pandemic.

Stick with this job for a couple of years and then move to one that you really want (unless that's what you got offered). It was much easier finding my second job than my first one.

im an east asian CS major from a T20 school. tons of hiring freezes this year made it hard to recruit, companies still left job openings to passively collect candidates but ghosted most

That is rough. It ended up being a new grad I hired but again, 3 applicants. I have been lucky I suppose, I worked patient care for 15 years before I started in the informatics/data analytics side. Job hunts have been fairly easy because of the healthcare background with some tech.
