Half the gun deaths in the US are suicides, and suicide is much more a combo of motive and immediate means than people realize—it’s why adding barriers to landmark bridges is worth bothering with. It’s an incredibly sad statistic amongst the focus on the visceral but numerically much smaller horror of mass shootings.
