Such a naming is absolutely stupid idea IMO. All you need as a passenger is a city name only.

Source: Wikipedia (here's a table with the person and type, that I added myself)

I used Illustrator for this. May have been a simpler way to do it with Tableau.

Very open to advice or constructive criticism. Here is a version without the names on the map.

That's one opinion. Though, I think it can be a nice way to honor a national or local hero, like naming the gateway to your country. Though I wish there were more scientists and fewer politicians.

You need more than that - London has at least 6 airports. But a specific place name should suffice.

(London Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Stansted, City, Southend, Oxford, Biggin Hill, Heliport, RAF Northolt, Lydd...)

I'd like to know how to do to get my name on the airport. I guess that in current times is only a matter of money only. What do you think?

Madrid was just Madrid-Barajas, the name was changed to Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas a few years ago, it should be one of the airports longest name

Interesting how most of northern Europe (specifically the British Isles, Benelux, Nordic countries) have no interest in naming airports after people.

The one in Munich is called Franz Josef Strauß and the one in Hamburg named after Helmut Schmidt.

The one in Pisa is named after Galileo Galilei and the one in Florence after Amerigo Vespucci

Ah, I knew there would be some mistakes, and that is a big miss on Munich.

Pisa is not in the data, since it was outside the top 101 in 2021. Hamburg, I probably should have counted. I was unsure what to do with christening, though I did count it for Stuttgart.

Naples airport doesn't have it in its name but it's dedicated to Ugo Niutta (WWI pilot) by giving the name to the address road

Germany's busiest airports are Frankfurt and Munich aka "Franz Josef Strauss". There's no "Manfred Rommel" airport.

Stuttgart airport does indeed have this name. I'm German myself and I never heard it before but I looked it up when I saw it on this map and it seems to be true.

Anyone know why the airport in Pristina is busier than airports in Croatia, Bosnia, and the other ex-Yugoslav countries? I honestly am kind of surprised by that.

I would have thought John Lennon airport would have made the list

But the UK is much more densely populated. You travel for 70 miles in England and you've passed 3 cities.

Nobody is considering Oxford to be part of the London metro area.

I’d argue Da Vinci was an artist more than a scientist/engineer. I mean he literally painted probably the most famous work of art in the world.

As a joke, but also maybe not, I'd create a category just for Da Vinci.

The truth that London isn't the whole world, is kind of irrelevant talking regarding that the conversation focused specifically on London, taking its specific situation into consideration.

My assumption is that people really don't see your point.
