At this rate he'll blow passed 40,000 next season and keep going.

I watched his televised high school game back in 2002. Crazy.

I don't understand how the guy still scores so many points. He's lumbering around the court these days, but still finds points.

His game is totally different from what it was 10 years ago. That's normal for an older player, but what doesn't seem normal is how he is still so effective. Different playstyle from 10 years ago, but still scoring points left and right.

He's smart and he doesn't get rattled. He looks for mismatches, and punishes people for closing in on him by making a pass to an open player. They have to kind of play zone around him otherwise he'll carve them up with a good pass. As long as he's still got a jump shot he'll be dangerous. If only he had a decent team around him. Lol

Good for Lebron! What’s crazy too is Kareem only made one 3 pointer in his career and still held it for so long.

I don't know too much about the sport, so I am wondering, how is it possible to only have one three pointer in you career (even if they hadn't been introduced at the start of his career)? That seems so unlikely even if you play in a position where you normally don't throw much from far.

Kareem played in the NBA for 10 years before they instituted the 3 point shot. As in the nba didn't have a 3 point shot until 1979. He was drafted 1969.

In fact is was guys like wilt and Kareem that had the nba create the idea of it. Their size and dominance was noted and the 3 pointer was to give smaller people a better chance to score and spread out defenses around the basket. Overall making the game more entertaining.

Same for Shaq. Three pointers just weren't part of many player's skill set.

Seemed odd to stop the whole game to celebrate him for several minutes. They were loosing at that point! The game is more important to me than any record. Celebrate afterwards.
