Honestly I disagree greatly. Being able to see the "threat" in pictures like this diminishes it immensely in my opinion. Pictures like this are more frightening when the mind is left to invent what's waiting in the dark. No dot eyes or spooky face matches the anxiety of the unknown.

Im 100% with you. In a similar way, most of the scariest horror movies and books have left a lot to the audience's imagination.

Kinda like how when the mechanical shark from the first jaws movie kept breaking down they realized it’d actually be scarier and more tense if you rarely ever saw the shark
