He was 4th of 9 kids and he was Grandma’s favorite, lol, but, yeah, they were dirt poor Okies in the 20s and they all shared those shoes.

The older 3 boys were in one bed and he slept in a dresser drawer til his sister was born. He ended up being huge and eventually had to sleep in the barn cause their house only had room for 3ish beds.
