Have.... have you seen a strigoi?
They look like hulking muscular tribal vampires. Or they also look like skinny emaciated nosferatu lookin mofos.
But they deffinately don't look like no long fingers mosquito beetle from hell creature.

Strigoi are fictional creatures based on myth going back to Roman times. Many modern IP's have used them in different forms, there is no one that is definitive,

They are fictional characters that have been depicted. As are most that have an image come up when you search them..... they have also been depicted a certain way since those times. They wouldn't just change overnight into an alien bug monste.
That argument is like saying the modern vampire films could have used wolf creatures and called them vapires.
You'd more likely see this creature in a Sci fi film rather than a gritty Romanian horror flick.

The painting literally says "Strigoi".
What a Strigoi might look like is entirely irrelevant.

In the story I created for this illustration, a Romanian man gets locked up in Chernobyl reactor number 4. He sees a hideous creature emerge from the shadows and "he" names it Strigoi. Actually, to be honest, it is a dimensional entity made of suffering and that feeds on memories of war.
