I was cleaning through my closet and then I remembered I have a PS2 fat that my uncle gave me. Haven’t tried playing it until today. It turns on just fine, the AV cable is kind of finicky but not much of an issue. What is an issue however is that it has trouble reading most of my game discs regardless of how scratched it is or not. I just can’t get past the system config/browser screen. However, I can get past that screen with my copy of GTA 3 BUT when it loads, it says “Please insert a Playstation or Playstation 2 format disc”. All this is telling me is that it’s able to read discs but just not my other ones. With the other games that are actually in better quality, it won’t even load at all or tell me there’s an error, it’ll just stay on the system config/browser screen. I’ve already cracked it open and cleaned the laser reader but still nothing. Any ideas?

yeah i cleaned that part already so far nothing. HOWEVER my copy of NBA Street so far is the only game to play. I actually bought a copy of GTA San Andreas today and it still doesn’t work and the back of the dvd is super clean so it must be the console having a hard time reading most of my discs
