I've been trying to make a decision for weeks, but I can't make a final one so here's my situation and tell my what you guys think.
Context: Right now I have an Xbox One S and I've been playing on that for the past 3 years, and I really only got the One S and not the PS4 because all my friends at the time had Xbox's. Now I don't really game with friends at all anymore, so it's not a factor in my decision. I've always been interested in PlayStation and their exclusives though.
What I LIKE about Xbox: All my Xbox One games would transfer over, Game Pass, Microsoft buying gaming companies could mean theyre upping their game when it comes to exclusives in the future, but it's not certain. Also quick resume seems nice, and the fact that I could get one from my nearest Wal-Mart right now if I wanted to.
What I LIKE about PS5: Obviously the console exclusives (God of War, Ghost of Tsushima, Spiderman, etc.), and I heard the controller comes with a bunch of cool features.
What I DON'T LIKE about Xbox: Pretty much that Microsoft didn't really change their UI much, if not at all, from the Xbox One era, same with the controller.
What I DON'T LIKE about PlayStation: I would be set back to square one game wise, and it's just really hard to get your hands on one in general.
-So that's what I have going on right now, would appreciate any feedback or advice, thank you:)

I am exactly in the same position as you. Go towards the games you want. Cloud gaming is becoming big you can use your xbox 1 s for lots of games if you have gamepass ultimate. The way I see it if I get a series x than my xbox 1 s doesn't get used but if I get a ps5 I can still use the xbox 1 s for old games and for cloud gaming.
Ps5 has amazing exclusives and you can use that for the next gen games.
Many games are also cross platform.
Just some advice in the end compare all your factors before buying. In the end both consoles are great.
