I had the chance to play some games on a PS5 on a 27 inch monitor and on 1080p. I honestly thought it looked great and didn't think for a second that it was running on 1080p.

Would I notice a significant difference in graphics and fidelity (and the overall looks of the game) playing the same games (the new cod, Fortnite) in 1080p on the xbox series S on a 27 inch monitor ?

Because PS5 downscaling so its adding super sampling as a form of AA. Conclusion 4k to 1080p will always look sharper.

100% agree. Even on a 24" 2K monitor Overwatch 2, that lacks AA, looks way sharper when playing with 4k downscaled to 1440p than native 1440p. Series S might also offer worse visuals and unstable framerates depending on title. You never know which games you're gonna play in the future and one day you might buy a new display with higher res.

Obviously its a 27inch display, now do that at 55"

1080p at 27" without supersampling or good AA doesn't look very good

You're still getting the full fat PS5 experience (I have no idea how resolution seems to be the only aspect of image quality people pay heed to these days) vs. the potato-spec Series S.

You probably would notice a small difference. But if you‘ll be playing on 1080p, get the Xbox. It is a cheap console, will play all the games you want and with game pass you have a great deal you could try out !

Same difference, I would get the series S personally as it gives you access to game pass which will have all of the best upcoming exclusives 👍
