Hi, I wanted everyone’s opinion on what device I should buy with my first paycheck, I already have a PlayStation, so I want to buy an Xbox or Nintendo switch, let me know which one you would buy and why, or any other device/electronic/thing I might want to get, thanks in advance.

ahem* xbox

i just think is runs super well and gamepass can let you get 4k dollars worth of games but it depends on you and what game's you like and i have a nintendo switch and a xbox series s and i have had my xbox for a vastly shorter amount of time and i love it way more than the switch (and xbox has halo)

Yeah, I’ve thought about switching back to Xbox full time and getting a switch too, but idk if my parents would let me considering I bought my PlayStation about a year ago, but then again it was with my own money, but then I would lose vr and I have a racing wheel that only works for ps/pc that my parents just got me for my birthday, so I’m kind of in a rock and a hard place, I might just have to get all three, i do have an iPad that I don’t use that I could sell to get a switch, idk thanks for the option tho.

how about you what a good month look into it and see if your are less interested before making the choice you don't want to buy a console with your first paycheck and then relize u made a mistake like how i almost broke my controller because i wanted to spray paint it truestory

Yeah I think I might just go with xbox instead of the switch because then I can still have my vr and my racing wheel, and maybe down the road I can get a switch, because in some peoples opinion they might say the switch is an oversized phone with a few more games, it’s a tough decision, and I might end up doing something completely different with my first paycheck idk, but thanks again

I would go with a Switch or a PC. There are really no hardware differences between the PS5 and Series X, the only reason to get one or the other are exclusives. However the Switch is getting to the end of its cycle, but they are also fairly cheap and have a lot of great games.

Yeah but my friend only has a console so I wouldn’t be able to play with him, so that’s kind of out of the question, it’s kind of a mess, but thanks

Nintendo is a niche console. It isn't as powerful as Xbox, in fact the switch isn't as powerful as an Xbox 360 which is 2 generations back, but it doesn't try to compete. It is good for local multiplayer games so it is more of a party console. Xbox is more for the serious gamer.

If you already have a playstation then go with Nintendo. 90% of what Xbox has is already on playstation despite a few exclusive titles that are, in my personal experience, not good enough. Nintendo has a very unique library and playstation exclusives are not far behind. 3rd party games a PS console will have you covered.

Not a fanboy, or a hater. But this is my personal opinion.

A pc. You can emulate switch on a pc and pirate every game + every game on xbox you might want is already on ps/pc

I prefer console gaming over PC and don't think you can go wrong with either the Xbox Series or Switch.

Steam deck. Best of the all consoles if you include emulation. Still better than a PlayStation and xbox if you don't. Makes a switch expensive if your not bothered about Nintendo exclusives and just want a portable way to play games.

There's lots of different ways to emulate games on a steam deck, but there's one thats more popular than most. Emu deck. Regarding legality, there is questionable ethics behind it. There's no problem if you already own the games you want to emulate, for example games on old consoles. The problem stems from emulating games you don't own. That's definitely a grey area. It's Best you do some of your own research on that one.

Don't worry about the emulatioj for now. Why not have a look on the steam website and have a look to see if a deck is available where you live? There you can also browse the 1000's upon 1000's of games that are available. Most of them will work fine on a steam deck. A few won't. Protondb is a good website to check and see if the games you want to play have been tested on the steam deck and how well they play.

Yes it can take sd cards. 64GB isn't a lot, but if you play indie games then it'll hold a fair few. AAA Games like assassins creed valhalla are 150GB in size so won't fit on the internal memory. You can upgrade the internal memory in the future though, but you'll need access to a pc to do it. Or you could obviously ask someone to do it for you.

One last question, do I have to have internet connection for most of these games? I want to use the handheld feature for road trips, is there maybe some games you could think of on steam that don’t use internet?

The deck has an offline mode you can use, although periodically it will need to connect to the Internet to install the latest patches and updates. Most if not all single player games can be played offline. Obviously games like mmo's will need Internet to work.

No worries. Do some research online about the deck to help you make a decision 👍 steamdeckhq.com is another good website. Also check out reviews on YouTube of the deck and how games perform on it. It's a handheld pc, so it can do more than play games too.

You're not going to make a decision based on any amount of answers on this post though surely. I mean, unless the votes are all in favour of one console. They should be tbh, for the xbox, all day long, but still.

I like both. But Switch does have the added feature of being playable while mobile, or on a TV/PC. So if you ever wanted to game while on the road -- if you aren't the one driving, lol -- then that's always handy. It is called "Switch" for a reason, and I give props to the developers for such a unique idea.

The only other thing you'd want after that is a charging dock for the controller(s).

Is this a trick question? Xbox of course. Unless it’s 2006 and then maybe a Wii.
