My job does not allow anything that connects to Wi-Fi in the building. No cell phones, watches, tablets, etc. They just told us they will allow handheld games that do not require to be connected to the internet or that have internet access of any kind. There is no exception to this rule. I am trying to look for hand held games that would fall in to this category. (Sorry for the misspelling of my title)

LOL this is for the down time. We can not leave even for lunch and work 12hr shifts. I work in a very high stress role so puzzles, coloring, reading etc are helpful with the stress of the job for all of the employees.

It can but it can stay offline and play most of it's games.
If what you meant was a device which don't have a wifi option at all only thing comes to mind is GameBoy Advance but it's so hard to find cartridges

All i would suggest is an old gameboy or early ps portables. Not sure if nintendo ds mk1 had wifi? Worth a look
Pokemon on gameboy colour will give you hours of fun especially the early blue or red version.
Certainly don't need WiFi for that as it wasn't invented yet but there is a shit ton for sale on eBay.
I suggest you read a book instead of trying to game on ancient devices then. A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula Le Guin is great to dive into.
We literally have built and entire library of books. We are just looking for something simple and different.
Wouldn't it be easier for the company to setup a jammer in the office? No need for auditing, etc.
Couldn't you just put your Nintendo Switch/3ds/ds or whatever in airplane mode? If not, then i guess a gba should be your best option

Just play the nintendo switch pretty much every game has an offline mode or get a psp or nintendo ds or something

There is company called Anbernic. They have a lot of different types of handhelds loaded with emulators. They even come with SD card (if you chose options) with tons of games so you don't have to get ROMs somwhere. You just have to search for model without WiFi. I can recommend a YT channel Retro Game Corps. I think he reviewed all of them and more.

Have a look at Nintendo's Game and Watch line. Relatively cheap, no WiFi , Zelda or Mario. Or like others say grab an old Gameboy Advance
Dude, I'd highly recommend a Gameboy Advanced SP. There's a wealth of amazing GBA games and the sp has a build in back-light and no need for replaceable batteries.

Gameboy era would be your friend, as even the first DS has wi-fi capabilities.
The gameboy advanced SP (if you can find one, no idea how easy that'd be) was nice and compact and worked pretty well. Find a used video game store and see if they got any gameboys.
The first PSP and the first DS both had wifi. Only Gameboy era stuff didn't far as I'm aware.
The PSP street is a version that physically cannot have any Wifi connection. It’s been removed from the system to make it a cheaper model.
The PSP has a great game library and it’s not as dated as a DS or a gameboy.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet (just don’t use the wifi mode)
I'd say get a PSP relatively cheap and so are the games with plenty of classics
I'm more concerned about your job and why it doesn't allow that, but maybe a old nintendo handheld might work?
Options could include any version of the Game Boy (although Game Boy Advance recommended because it is backwards compatible), there are small LED mini games that are available for cheap, not the best games, but they'll probably keep you enteratined for a while.
I find it kinda wierd why nothing Wi-Fi is allowed, I mean, not connecting wouldn't be too much of a problem, but why can't you bring something like a Switch or phone and just leave it offline?

Sounds like a highly secretive job, thus not allowing any devices inside with internet that could potentially expose/leak sensitive information.

Depending in the break schedules and how staggered they are I might suggest some board games or card games that are quicker to play. Cathedral would be a good suggestion for 2 players that is quick and easy to learn.
Would u be allowed a laptop with the network card removed? That way you could have an entire gaming system up to date but completely offline (just use external devices to transfer tg He game or data across) due to hardware making it impossible to go online without additional hardware being used. I say this is the best option as it gives u so much more than just gaming on the device. I worked in conditions similar and this was allowed (after much arguing from me). I would spend most evenings as work gaming or watching films in the gaps.
If not then the best option in my opinion would be a game system built (maybe raspberry pi) as an emulation machine allowing u to play up to ps2 games quite well. Again can be built without WiFi and just allow an sd card full of gamed.
Or if u want to go with an already known pre made system then the psp (non WiFi option) or an old gameboy advanced or something will be just fine.
That would be awesome. I understand completely what you are saying but these petty people here with bending every rule given to them has made it impossible to have things like that since it would be an easy fix for internet access.
No need for concern. We are first responders with access to person information so to avoid any issues or mistakes no phone, smart watches, tablets etc. are allowed in our building. Even a simple funny picture or picture giving someone kudos could have information it should not have. So really its for the protection of the responders and the public.
LOL I wish it were that easy but there is good reason for not allowing it. We all have our moments of not liking it but if it is for the protection of ourselves and the community then its fine.
Now I feel so bad for u I'm looking up stealth gaming systems lol. I dont know if they exist but I was thinking a console that has had its outer frame removed and 3d printwd a random older systems case for it... so in other words will the know a raspreberri pi from a gameboy if the outside is using a ganeboy cover and maybe a gameboy startup screen? U could even hide the OS to a degree or at least mask it. Otherwise ur literally limited to pre nintendo ds days. Which for me is not bad as I actually prefer the games from the 80s and 90s anyway.... but I don't know what ur taste is either.
I mean as a cyber security engineer I find it mad that they don't just implement some security changes to prevent people connecting to the WiFi and have a separate guest access for non Corp users... but hey I get it. They're assholes.
