Back Bay feels more like Boston. Seaport feels more generic and like it could be anywhere.

I'd probably lean more toward Back Bay, as there's more "stuff" to walk to and it's just a cool area to walk around. Seaport is nice but may be a bit sterile for some folks (and you've probably seen some of the restaurants in the airport on the way here.)

Both have plenty of walkable shops/bars/restaurants, but Back Bay is better connected to the rest of the city and has better stuff within walking distance imo

Back Bay a million times over. Both in terms of accessibility and quality of restaurants, architecture, etc. Seaport is kind of a cookie-cutter Big City Neighborhood^TM, and doesn't offer much that you couldn't get literally anywhere else in a major US city. For better or worse, it's also very much where the Instagram type of crowd hangs out.

Back Bay. It’s cool to walk around Seaport once, but it’s pretty small and you’ll run out off things to see in less than a day.

Back Bay is just pure Boston. So much shit to see and do.

This isn’t a tough call. Back Bay by miles. Skip the Seaport except for the ICA and maybe the federal courthouse.

Definitely Back Bay. The Seaport is just a big mall with zero diversity.

I just stayed in both the past month for work trips, and I prefer staying in Back Bay and then driving over to Seaport for dinner!

You’ll get a much clearer idea of Boston by staying in Back Bay, and you’ll be way more connected to the rest of the city.

The Seaport has the pro that almost everything is either completely renovated or brand new.

really depends on what your mom is into. Back Bay is theoretically more Boston'ish, on the T, and walking distance to a lot of historical stuff. Seaport is like a mix of hip & Vegas-lite vibes, but is kinda stand alone and not very historic since it's all brand new

The Seaport is a gentrified parking lot.

You want to stay in the Back Bay, Kenmore Square, or even north of the river in Harvard Square.

Back Bay easy. Better food, better atmosphere, more connected to the rest of the city. You stay in the seaport of you’ve got meetings in the area, you’re heading to the cruise ship terminal in the morning, or maybe just for a water view during the summer.

Back Bay, seaport has no identity other than glass buildings and botox.

Oof - seaport is "can't get there from here" and only for conventions and rotating high-tech companies to torture their commuters.

Love the mexican place there with the Skulls but other than that, it is not like Boston at all....

Prettier? The seaport is a lot of things, but prettier than Back Bay is not one of them.
