I was doing dishes with the news on in the other room last night. They were talking about how the Secret service and security will be needed for the royals coming to Boston.

I thought to myself why are the Royals playing the Red Sox in the middle of November and why the hell they would need The Secret service for this.

Not a fan of the royals myself but I don't really care if they visit Boston. What's the beef?

I'm only half listening to the local news, but did the Prince and Princess murder an old couple and are running from police? Is that what I'm hearing?

It’s pretty cool to have all this attention in the city with both Biden and the Royals. Why the hate??

We’ll ignoring the war Boston started over getting rid of them…

Ignoring that their entire status is an affront to the idea of equality..

Ignoring that their wealth is literally from thousands of years of stealing from people and slavery..

Ignoring that they have literally accomplished less than Kim Kardashian..

Their presence massively screws up traffic and logistics until they leave in a city with world famous traffic and transit issues.

Who on earth told them Boston was a nice place to visit at the beginning of freaking December??

I wonder if the rented vehicles for the Biden entourage will “catch on fire” suddenly like the 5 cars the rented for their Thanksgiving holiday in Nantucket. Weird.

The added government provided security of a few rich foreign figure heads visiting will disrupt traffic flows in a lot of areas.

Edit: In case you think I am over stating the costs

>"The number goes into the millions of dollars," Davis said. "It's an expensive endeavor."

> He says it's something the city prepares for. "The budget does prepare for these types of events," Davis said. "Boston is a world class city and these are the kind of expenses that a world class city has to incur to maintain that designation."

Boston should not be incurring the costs of securing the persons of random figure heads worth billions. If the British government still holds them in such high regards that they view them as part of their government then they should be the ones paying for the security and not the Boston tax payers.

I'll give you the traffic issues. But the other stuff, I get it. I'm not oblivious to it. But the grand scheme of my life....if they want to visit Boston, have at it.

William is here for the Earthshot Prize. Kate is here because he's here. She wasn't going to let her husband fly to America alone.

We told them that in 1770, 1773, 1775, and 1776, to name just a few occasions, but they just don't seem to get the message.

When I saw the announcement I got excited since its my home team, then just to have it followed up by it being the royal family immediately deflated my excitement.

Yeah my street is being completely closed so they can visit a park. NOTHING was said about this until yesterday, and only businesses were directly informed- the rest of us, even the board of the neighborhood association, only found out when someone from one of those businesses posted in a group asking if anyone knew more. All they were told was the street would be closed sometime between 10 and 6, and as of this afternoon there still isn't much more information despite getting our city councilor involved. Apparently specifics can't be given for security reasons- they won't even confirm that the street IS the one being closed, even though there are no standing signs up now and no others would make sense.

I was listening to Boston Public Radio and there was someone telling the hosts how to address them, ‘you can them ‘your royal highness or [blah, blah]” I was thinking we won the dang revolutionary war we don’t have to call them anything special

What is the actual point of these two douche flowers visiting the city that declared first it's independence from the punters and their stupid fucking hats?

I like this. Pay for your visit or fuck off. Make the statement publicly too.

What are they going to do, cry because Boston (of all cities) won't foot the cost for these entitled fuckfaces to get some photo ops?
