Hi, I'm planning to go to Boston on holidays next year as I'm a big Celtics fan, I'm starting to look at some things to do but wanted to know that in general, if the city is safe (I know that all the big cities have their areas)
Thanks :)

You could write a robocop sequel
Compared to other major cities: significantly lower chance of getting shot, mugged or stabbed. Significantly higher chance of getting punched in the face by a guy you didn’t realize you were in a fight with yet.
As long as you aren't a pigeon, mouse/rat, mole, vole, or other small animal you should be fine from our new hawk overlords.
Yeah if you’re a hawk you’ll be the toast of the town
Very small dogs and smallish cats should also exercise increased caution. Also, ducks.

Most of the city is super safe and chances are most hotels you'd be staying in will be in safe areas.
No. I mean yes. I mean fuck you.
The area around the stadium is remarkably safe. You’re miles away from the bad areas. Even in the bad places you’d have to make some moves to be hurt. And the baddest of bad, you’d never find yourself in
Ok Downtown Crossing and Mass/Cass are dicey areas. DC wasn’t always but there’s been crimes on regular folk
Those are not remotely comparable places, at all.
On my worst day I don’t give a flying shit

Just watch out for the cocaine turkeys and you'll be fine.
You kinda have to go out of your way to find dangerous places in Boston. Any well-lit place is going to be just fine.
Even on Mass & Cass no one is there to fuck with you, they're just having a real, real bad day, #8,544 of 27,000. Besides, if you get in trouble just yell YANKEES SUCK! and hopefully that will calm folks down.
New England generally, including its cities, is about the safest part of the country according to crime statistics.
Yes. Obviously having some basic city sense/street smarts always works in your favor, but Boston - especially the places/neighborhoods that tourists tend to go - is safe.
I’ve walked around Boston alone many times as a 115lb woman and literally never felt uncomfortable.
Yes. There are longer, more nuanced answers, but yes.
Does this question get asked for every state on Reddit, makes you wonder
Boston is safer than many big cities…but that is not saying much by the state of things today. Try to stay in crowded areas. There is enough random violent crimes that happen to make it unsettling. Most of the bad areas are not close to downtown though.
How about Lynn?
Edgy. Ok is some areas…not so great in others. There is an old saying…Lynn, Lynn…city of sin…no never go out…the way you went in. 😳
Have you thought about staying downtown?
Safe yes but know if something does happen.. then politicians will enable the criminal instead of your needs...
if something does happen, it will be a hospital that tends to their needs.

Every day 2 hotel guests are selected at random to be executed by the police as a deterrent. It’s progressive policy, but it doesn’t make the tourist guide. For obvious reasons.
So, pick your hotel room wisely.
