This is one of those little known secrets.
One of my bucket list items is taking a private rail car somewhere.

Very neat. https://www.amtrak.com/content/dam/projects/dotcom/english/public/documents/privatecars/Amtrak-Private-Car-Rate-Addendum-5-101522.pdf These rates don’t really seem like everyone is going to be hitching their private train up though.

Brother, wait until you see the bills for the fuel and fees flying your private jet into Logan.. you'll wish you had taken your private train car..

Estimate $5000/hour for your private jet all costs included. That’s very roughly $10/mile.

I suspect if you've got your own private rail car and the time to use it, the fees aren't going to stop you in the least bit.

I wonder what the fee would be. For your own personal train. My train Flex 1880-1930s style

I was at South Station once, early for my bus to Hyannis, and one of these was on a track waiting to be hooked up. I love trains and was giving it a good hard look. The people on the car saw me peering in the windows and they invited me on to see it! They were sitting around drinking coffee (it was about 9;30 in the morning) -- wish I'd asked more questions but they said a rich friend of theirs owned and invited them to use it. Pretty sweet.

You can rent them just like a private yacht seen them up in Vermont and New Hampshire.

Yep. It's a bit similar to having Amtrak "ship" your car on a longhaul train. Not cheap but worth it for some.

Theres a woman onboard cleaning/setting up so it’s clearly being used for something!

I'd seen those and/or old style luxury caboose looking cars from time to time there. When walking by they were very nicely appointed inside. They were randomly there at the ass end of the tracks next to the USPS facility.

There are still some private rail cars rolling around. For a fee, Amtrak will hitch one to the back of one of their regular trains. Sometimes they stop at South Station.
