I am considering homes in West Roxbury and I am wondering how much of an inconvenient being near the quarry is. I have seen online residents complaining about noise and vibrations but no information on how close one needs to be for that to happen. How far away (direct line) does it stop being an issue indoors? 1,000 ft ? 2,000 ft?

I'm not sure at point you stop hearing it, but honestly it's not bad form around a 1/2 mile out where I am. I can hear it indoors, but it's pretty faint.

I don't really understand complaining about noise in a city with existing infrastructure like the quarry. As a relatively recent resident from a more chill area of Boston, some West Roxbury residents can be....reactionary.

Thank you, it is not bad.

However, it is a large radius. It would put the "cannot hear" limit approximately past Spring St (West), Theresa Av-Mapplewood (Northeast), Washington St (East), and Stimson st (South). It seems there are a lot of homes inside that perimeter.

How often does it happen?

I used to live in Westie and never heard it but definitely felt the vibrations from time to time.

I lived less than a half mile away for 8 years and never noticed any noise
