I'm not sure at point you stop hearing it, but honestly it's not bad form around a 1/2 mile out where I am. I can hear it indoors, but it's pretty faint.
I don't really understand complaining about noise in a city with existing infrastructure like the quarry. As a relatively recent resident from a more chill area of Boston, some West Roxbury residents can be....reactionary.

Thank you, it is not bad.
However, it is a large radius. It would put the "cannot hear" limit approximately past Spring St (West), Theresa Av-Mapplewood (Northeast), Washington St (East), and Stimson st (South). It seems there are a lot of homes inside that perimeter.
How often does it happen?

That sounds right as a conservative radius. I've been here almost a year, but honestly couldn't tell you how frequently they blast. I frequently confuse it with my toddler stomping in his crib.
