Neither. Hate the look of the LL bean boots and they are overpriced for what they are.

Bean boots or anything with similarly hard rubber has terrible traction on icy sidewalks. I’ve just worn my 6in waterproof backpacking Lowas the past few years and they’ve been great.

Sorel. Holds up way longer than bean boots in my experience.

I got a pair of target brand knockoff bean boots in 2016 and they’re still going 🤷🏻‍♀️

I use the rubber moc only when it's fairly wet snow or slushy outside, as they're great for keeping feet dry and are easy to slip off inside. Downsides are that they are not warm (wear heavy wool socks) and are not comfortable for walking distances.

I use bean's trail model hiking shoes as my day to day shoe. Waterproof version for winter. They're not quite as boot as your standard bean boot, but they keep me warm and dry, and I've never had a problem with traction.

They're like $100, and in the past have lasted me a solid two years of constant use before wearing out, so that seems like decent value to me.

People around here love LL Bean boots for some reason but to be honest LL Bean makes pretty mediocre/overpriced products. Pretty sure people only buy them because other people wear them.

Bean boots are unbeatable for walking through mud, but other than hunters and fishermen no one does that. Once it gets below freezing their soles make them pretty useless.

Go to REI (or LL Bean even) and find the waterproof walking shoe that looks and feels best to you.

The key is waterproof. Those puddles of slush are deeper than you think.

I got some ankle high merril boots and they are still waterproof 5 years later.

The reality is unless you plan on putting them to frequent use, just get something that is warm, waterproof, and has good treads.

Neither. I wear waterproof Timberlands when it's not super snowy. I've had them four years and they're doing fine.
