It's not really sarcastic. It frankly makes no sense to let voters vote to raise taxes on a very small subset of the population while simultaneously benefiting from a tax rebate because the state collected too much money.

I mean I get it, some people just enjoy jerking off at the thought that a few millionaires get forced to donate some extra money to the state.
But let's be realistic, the state government is horribly mismanaged and most of the beneficiaries of any tax increase are public sector unions.

It’s the “eat the rich” hive mind of Reddit. Which trends towards 20-30 year old dweebs who have a better life than 99% of the earths inhabitants but still wanna bitch about everything. At least in this country you can advance economically, it takes a ton of luck and hard work, but it’s possible.

The state didn’t collect too much money. They mismanaged the budget in a way that severely underfunds critical public services while also legally requiring the refunds.

You're getting down voted because the Reddit echo chamber's cognitive dissonance is so bad they know they have to ad hominem preemptively to justify their nonsensical political stance.
Raising taxes is just the next progressive litmus test... If you aren't for it, you must be a racist white supremacist.
Even if you are 100% right. We are collecting rescue 3 amounts of taxes at the state and federal level. Spending is totally out of control and the reason we are on the verge of hyper inflation.
When the politicians can't admit they caused the problem, they redirect attention elsewhere. It would be funny if it didn't work perfectly every time.
