Similar pedantic offenses are if you stay "in Cape Cod" or "in Martha's Vineyard." The correct preposition for both is on.

Good Lord, the "Capitol Building" spans east to west from Norwood to Hopkinton, and Faneuil Hall sits in Norwell to Abington.
