163 Vietnamese sandwich in Chinatown used to have tremendous bahn mi sandwiches on the cheap, like $6-7 bucks.

This is the answer. Banh mi is still reasonable in most Vietnamese places. Also delicious.

I lived on 163 in my 30’s. So good. I once drove to 163 to get 2 subs while living in Allston. Parked in front of a fire hydrant for the 4 minutes it took me to get a cold cut combo and a beef sando for $13 total. Came out to a $100 parking ticket…

…still the best sandwiches for $56.50 each I’ve ever spent.
