I got a letter, text, and email from Mass Health saying they got news from a "trusted source" that my contact information/address changed. I've been on vacation in Canada since January and am returning to Massachusetts tomorrow. I told them I was on vacation and my address hasn't changed, and they said, weird, and told me everything should be fine then.
A couple weeks later I get a message from Patient Gateway from Mass General Brigham asking me to confirm my demographic and insurance information with the subject "Address Mismatch". I haven't moved!!!
Why is this happening and how am I supposed to prevent it? Are people not allowed to take long vacations? I don't want my health insurance in jeopardy every time I visit my boyfriend.

Did Mass Health confirm your address with you on the phone? Did they send any paperwork to you while you were away? Did they at least tell you what the incorrect address was?
Back when I worked in patient registration for a local hospital, we'd run patients' insurances to make sure the plan was still active and that all demographic info matched up with the insurance. This all happens before the patient goes for their appointment. All that information comes from the insurance. If MGB told you that there was an address mismatch, it means Mass Health gave them the incorrect one. What you can do is to call MGB and see if they can tell you what Mass Health gave them for the address. Also make sure that the address listed on your Patient Gateway is correct.
Most people's insurances get updated in January every year and sometimes things just don't get updated correctly.
